The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has sentenced the ringleader of a tax fraud syndicate that defrauded the SA Revenue Services (SARS) to an effective 65 years imprisonment.

On Friday, Acting Judge Sam Makamu sentenced the members of the syndicate, who were convicted in December on multiple counts of corruption, forgery and money laundering.

The 65-year-old Jeremiah Dube, who Makamu described as the mastermind of the syndicate, was sentenced to an effective 65 years.
