Police have spent over R42.67 million on petrol and diesel for its VIP Protection fleet – the unit that ferries President Cyril Ramaphosa and his ministers.

Between 2018 and 2022, R34 million was spent by VIP units with the bulk of the spending incurred by the units in Gauteng and Western Cape.

Then, over the last year, between March 2023 and March 2024, the VIP unit spent just over R8 million on fuel. Its unit in Gauteng spent more than R2.2 million on filling its fleet.
