A flight permitting problem in South Africa meant that US tech billionaire Ankur Jain and his bride-to-be were late for their own wedding celebration at the Muhammed Ali Palace in Cairo last week.

Ankur Jain and his betrothed, Erika Hammond, were stuck at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, trying to sort out a permitting issue with South African government officials. The delay put the wedding plans that they had been organising for over a year in jeopardy.

Jain is the founder of Bilt Rewards, a platform that offers users rewards and loyalty points when making payments. The 34-year-old has a net worth of $1.2 billion, according to the Forbes real-time billionaires index, which is equal to about R22 billion. There are only five South Africans with a higher net worth, according to the Forbes list.
