A 29-year-old man was shot dead in Philippi, Cape Town, on Thursday evening. 

Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the man was shot on the corner of Schaap Road and Middle Avenue.

Twigg added police officers responded to a shooting complaint, and when they arrived at the scene, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his chest.
