A veteran Johannesburg cop is a central figure in an alleged death squad linked to the brutal, broad-daylight assassination of a Vereeniging man on Wednesday morning.

Detective Michael Pule Tau – alongside alleged accomplices Tlego Floyd Mabusela and Musa Kekana – faces a raft of charges in connection with the slaying of Armand Swart, who was gunned down as he made his way to work.

CCTV footage obtained by News24 reveals Swart’s final moments, showing the 30-year-old CNC engineer sitting in his bakkie waiting for a gate to open, when a car pulls up.
