Traditional
pickled fish, an old-time favourite for South Africans, may be off the menu in
many households this Easter thanks to the rising cost of living.

Lyndre
Bonhomme, a staunch Christian from Durban, said her Easter menu had undergone
several adjustments in recent years to accommodate budget constraints.

“We
have had to change the fish we use for the pickled fish to something cheaper
and budget-friendly,” she added, acknowledging the pressure of being the
breadwinner in her household.
