Kaizer Chiefs to sell their midfielder to Zamalek for R40 million?

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Edson Castillo is reportedly wanted for R40 million by Egyptian giants Zamalek.

The 29-year-old South American has had mixed results in his debut season for Amakhosi. Although he started the season well scoring three goals in his first 10 games, Castillo faded away as the campaign went on and struggled to stamp his authority in the middle of the park. His partnership with Yusuf Maart has often been criticised as it lacked the spark or creativity to bring the team together in terms of play.

During the Africa Cup of Nations, the Kaizer Chiefs man was linked with a R40 million move to Zamalek.

According to Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi were willing to listen to the Egyptian giants’ offer if it was around R40 million, just a little short of €2 million.

The Venezuela international recently played in the World Cup qualifiers and given his international pedigree, he won’t come cheap.

Kaizer Chiefs reportedly set R40 million price tag for Castillo

“Now that the inquiry has reached the management stage, they have come up with the price that will fit Castillo if he is to leave before his contract expires. He is a quality player and for him to attract interest from outside means they have seen something and that’s why the board and management think the right price is around R40 million,” the publication said.

Kaizer Chiefs management has assured fans that they will recruit new players at of the season and perhaps the R40 million is what they need to start afresh. Amakhosi have not tasted silverware in nine years and are desperate to get back to winning ways.
