Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has been ruled out for the rest of the season and is set to miss Euro 2024 this summer after having elbow surgery.

The 31-year-old was sent to see a specialist after withdrawing from the England squad on Sunday.

He has won four England caps and was expected to be Jordan Pickford’s understudy in Germany.

Johnstone has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Palace this season.

Palace are 14th in the Premier League and face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday (15:00 GMT).
