Woods banned again for breaching whip rules

Jockey Kielan Woods says he has “no one to blame but myself” after receiving another ban for breaching whip rules.

Woods was banned for 45 days at a British Horseracing Authority hearing on Friday after it was found he had broken the rules for a fourth time in a six-month period.

Nine days of his ban have been deferred for six months, as was the case when he was suspended for 42 days in June.

It means Woods will be sidelined for 36 days from 20 January-24 February.

“By the time I reach the end of this suspension I’ll have missed around a third of the last year through suspension and I’ve got no one to blame but myself,” said

“I’m going spend this time off getting to the bottom of why I seem to have a mental block when it comes to this issue and making sure whatever the issue is, I get it fixed.”

The BHA introduced new whip rules in February, reducing the maximum number of strikes allowed to seven over jumps and six on the flat.
