Trailfinders Women earn first Premier 15s win

Trailfinders Women claimed their first Premier 15s win as they beat fellow newcomers Leicester Tigers 36-7.

Playing their third game since being formed, Trailfinders won 36-7 in Ealing thanks to two Liz Crake tries and scores from Vicky Laflin, Megan Barwick, Abby Dow and Kate Zackary.

They are fifth in the table, while winless Leicester remain bottom.

Exeter Chiefs beat Harlequins 52-27 at Twickenham Stoop, while Bristol Bears won 46-17 at Loughborough Lightning.

Merry Doidge scored a hat-trick, Emily Tuttosi touched down twice and Abby Middlebrooke, Alex Tessier and Claudia MacDonald also went over for Exeter, who wrapped up a bonus point by half-time and moved level on points with leaders Saracens.

Bristol’s second win of the season came thanks to two Meg Varley tries and scores from Deborah Wills, Sarah Bern, Keira Bevan, Alisha Butchers, Gabrielle Nigrelli and Lark Atkin-Davies.

The game between Gloucester-Hartpury and Sale Sharks was postponed because of “absent medical support”.external-link
