The End: Kaizer Chiefs to announce 5 players goodbye

Things don’t always work out in football sometimes. Kaizer Chiefs are expected to announce the departures of big names such as Itumeleng Khune, Keagan Dolly and Njabulo Ngcobo.

KAIZER CHIEFS TO ANNOUNCE PLAYER EXITS

We’re in the final month of the season. Amakhosi, like every club around the world, will announce player departures before revealing the names of new players. According to recent reports over the past few months, Kaizer Chiefs’ 36-year-old legend Khune will be on the list of exits. Another major name will be that of the 31-year-old attacker Dolly.

Another prominent name will be that of Ngcobo. The former Moroka Swallows and Uthongathi defender is reportedly nearing a move to AmaZulu. “Kaizer Chiefs is a professional club, they communicate about their intentions. Unfortunately, they have not said anything about Njabulo Ngcobo,” the player’s agent, Sboniso Ngubane, told SABC Sport.

“We are in talks with different clubs in the DStv Premiership, including AmaZulu FC,” Ngubane added.

Gonzalez, the Colombian striker, has failed to convince Kaizer Chiefs to renew what was a season-long contract. “Kaizer Chiefs have opted against taking the option in Jasond Gonzalez contract to make his loan move permanent,” iDiskiTimes reported.

“His loan deal, which had an option to make the deal permanent for $180,000 (R3.4 million) will not be pursued further after failing to score in his 12 games for Amakhosi,” the report added.

Full list of players to leave:

  • Keagan Dolly, 31, attacking midfielder
  • Itumeleng Khune, 36, goalkeeper
  • Njabulo Ngcobo, 29, central defender
  • Jasond Gonzalez, 24, striker
  • George Matlou, 25, midfielder.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS MATCH

In the meantime, Kaizer Chiefs are preparing for some very important visitors to the FNB Stadium tonight. Mamelodi Sundowns will arrive for a DStv Premiership clash. Speaking ahead of the game, Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena said Amakhosi need to be respected.

“Chiefs is Chiefs and we all know that in any day they can turn up. They are a big Club and they deserve incredible respect. They have a good coach and I know him personally because I learnt a lot from him. They’ve got some very good players and they are a team that is capable of beating anybody,” Rulani told Sundowns media.

“What will be the message for the players? That we are playing against a very big team and our arch-rivals. We are playing an important game which requires us to go there with humility and a lot of respect. I think as a fierce competitor, Coach Cavin Johnson would like to win the game and I think he knows it’s the same with me. Furthermore, winning the title will be very sweet because it’s an important competition for us and it’s an important season,” Mokwena concluded on the Kaizer Chiefs match.
