THE LATEST MESSAGES FROM THE CLUB

The club’s Sporing Director confirmed Kaizer Chiefs will introduce a new technical team structure for next season.

“We communicated from the onset that Cavin would be there on an interim basis, and there will very much be a different technical structure next season,” Kaizer Motaung Jr said via TimesLIVE.

“The plans have long been in motion … from our side we have been preparing for a while and at the appropriate time the club will make announcements. For us [Kaizer Chiefs] to achieve what we want to achieve is not just going to take one person (a head coach) or technical staff, it is going to take a lot of people, structures and elements that need to work, that haven’t been working for many years.

“We are very much cognisant of what needs to be done and what we have not got right in the past. We are focused on the future and want to make sure we make the right decisions,” the Kaizer Chiefs boss added.

The Soweto Giants’ founder and chairman, Kaizer Motaung, previously confirmed the club’s search for a new coach. “I cannot say at the moment how many CVs are on the table, but process is taking place,” the Kaizer Chiefs chairman said via SportsLIVE with BBK in December 2023. “We haven’t embarked on talking to anybody at the moment, but we have put a process is in place for us to deal with new coach that we want to bring in, because as you said, Mr Johnson is just an interim coach at the moment,” the Kaizer Chiefs icon concluded.

In the meantime, the Glamour Boys have a funeral and a DStv Premiership to focus on. The club will bury the late Luke Fleurs in Mitchells Plain on Saturday before travelling to Durban to face Richards Bay at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
