South Africa and New Zealand’s Under-20s played to a 13-13 draw in their opening game of the inaugural Under-20 Rugby Championship at the Sunshine Coast Stadium in Bokarina in Queensland on Thursday.

The result was a fair one considering that the puddles left by a heavy pre-match shower that was followed by a lingering strong wind, ensured that constructive rugby was going to be a science rather than an art.

Bafana Nhleko’s side did well to stay in the game for as long as they did, especially with New Zealand’s first-half dominance.
