Deon Fourie has apparently reached that stage of his career where even his own teammates aren’t sure how old he is.
In explaining how inspirational the veteran Stormers and Springbok utility forward has been to his international teammates for his durability and workaholic ways, despite being in his late 30s, Bok centre Jesse Kriel – speaking at the pre-screening of Chasing the Sun 2, the docuseries on South Africa’s World Cup triumph last year – unwittingly put his foot in it by calling Fourie a “38 or 39-year-old”.
