Shein queen? ‘RHOD’s Maria mocked over fast fashion looks [photos]

Unlike Sorisha Naidoo, who commissioned a local designer to create a custom wardrobe for the latest season of Real Housewives of Durban, viewers have criticised Maria Valaskatzis for choosing fast fashion brand Shein.

The reality TV star has been dragged on social media for many of her looks, which are styled by “gusband” Neil Ramautar.

She’s also been criticised for calling fellow housewife Slee Ndlovu “broke.”

RHOD MARIA MOCKED OVER SHEIN WARDROBE

Throughout season four, Real Housewives of Durban veteran Sorisha Naidoo has been praised for her bespoke wardrobe, courtesy of Umhlanga bridal designer Victoria Maphumulo of The XVIII Victorian.

However, the fashion critics have not been so kind to Maria Valaskatzis.

On social media, the businesswoman was mocked by RHOD viewers for her fast fashion wardrobe, courtesy of Chinese manufacturer Shein.

In fact, one tweep shared a lengthy thread of all the looks the 44-year-old

@PaballoSaid tweeted: “Neil is dressing/styling Maria in SHEIN, yet she had the audacity to call Slee the broke one.”

The tweep added: “There’s nothing wrong with wearing SHEIN but making fun of Slee’s clothing line, calling her broke and claiming Sorisha gives her free designer bags. No, ma’am!”

The tweep then shared a series of pics of Maria rocking a few looks she’d cleared in her Shein cart. They included a bronze mini-dress she wore on a photo shoot to their season’s girl’s trip to Namibia and a neon pink and green gown she rocked on a night out.

According to another tweep, a pink feathered cocktail dress she wore to housewife Zama Ngcobo’s birthday party was from Chinese brand Temu.

The tweep added: “Come on, she’s clearly on a tight budget.”…

Here’s what others had to say:

@zazaz457: “Yooooooo, it’s screaming financially overstretched.”

@Tsholoify: “Dying at Maria saying she paid Neil a small fortune to style her, and this is the result.”

@yenzbby: “Oh Maria, honey, it’s not looking good.”

@Nokhanya_mdluli: “Baddie on a budget.”

‘R20 000 WARDROBE BUDGET’

Meanwhile, Durban influencer Naliyani Uma has claimed that Maria Valaskatzis had a R20 000 personal budget to spend on her wardrobe this season.

Tagging Maria, she shadily shared in an Instagram Story: “Your budget was 20k for this season. (You wanted me to style you). I know this because you said this to my face and your gusband – and we both laughed at you”.

Naliyani also accused Maria of wearing her designer jewellery and sunglasses without her permission.

She added: “My accessories you wore were easily 50k… definitely out of your budget and income bracket.”

Neil responded to Naliyani’s claims, adding that the latter had left her items at his home and that he had “borrowed” them to style Maria.

In an Instagram post by celebrity bloggers Maphepha Ndaba, Maria responded to the allegations.

She posted: “This is a joke. I paid @neilramautar a small fortune to style me this season. I do not know where he gets items from, and as a client, I don’t care. Whatever issues this person has, she should take it up with Neil.”
