‘Sawubona mhlaba’: Inside baby Pollard’s African-themed nursery

Springbok Handre Pollard and his wife Marise have given their Instagram followers a look at the birth of their baby boy, Hunter Andre. They’ve also shared a sneak peek inside the baby Bok’s African-inspired nursery.

Last month, the couple welcomed their first child in the UK, where Handre plays for the Leicester Tigers club.

INSIDE HUNTER POLLARD’S NURSERY

In a heartwarming clip posted on her Instagram account, Handre Pollard’s wife, Marise, shared a look at the birth of baby Hunter Andre.

“One week with our Hunter boy and man, oh man, we are so in love,” the brunette beauty captioned the post.

Marise also shared a look inside Hunter’s African-inspired nursery, which featured images of a giraffe, elephant, and lion.

In the clip, the newborn is seen wearing a onesie with the Zulu phrase “Sawubona mhlaba” [hello world].

The room features a safari colour palette with browns and greens.

Lush plants add a touch of greenery to the nursery, while details like wild animals on Hunter’s cot sheet and mobile are likely a reminder of home.

“This is South Africa’s baby,” commented one Instagram user. Another added: “Sawubona, Hunter.”

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

In 2022, Handre Pollard made the trek from South Africa to the UK, signing a R14 million a year contract with Leicester Tigers.

The couple previously called the Western Cape home.

According to MailOnline, Handre and Marise have now settled in the town of Market Harborough.

He told the publication in 2022: “I’ve always wanted to come to England. I wanted to come here three years ago, but there wasn’t really the opportunity, so I had to go elsewhere”.

Handre and Marise have posted a look at their stylish home on their respective Instagram accounts.

The double-story face brick home boasts a white, black, and neutral colour palette with subtle decor, no doubt curated by social media influencer Marise.

Like little Hunter’s nursery, the home features little accents from the African continent. One such is a wall filled with framed pictures of the couple back home.

Posting the picture to her Instagram Stories, Marise shared: “South Africa will always be home. We have a beautiful country. But I’m so grateful to call the UK home as well. I love this country. I love our life here and I love this chapter”.
