Orlando Pirates in trouble with CAF

Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, and Sekhukhune United probably knew this was coming. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set a tight deadline regarding Women’s Teams.

In a statement that was released on Wednesday night, CAF revealed that every team that will be participating next season’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup tournaments are strictly obliged to have registered Women’s Teams in their domestic leauge, or else will face elimination.

The reported, as shared by Unplayable, added to confirm that the deadline is 30 June 2023.

“CAF has made it clear that all the clubs that will participate in the 2023/24 #CAFCL & #CAFCC must have a women’s team. Sundowns & Pirates in CAF CL. SuperSport & Sekhukhune in CAF CC. Deadline Day is June 30,” the outlet explained.

BUCS TO SIGN THE NEW HLATSHWAYO?

In other Pirates updates, the club is hotly linked what is a new top-rated central defender named Hlatshwayo in Mzansi football.

Having reportedly signed TS Galaxy’s goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi and All Stars midfielder Siphelo Baloni, the Buccaneers are now said to be targetting Golden Arrows’ midfielder Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo.

The 29-year-old from Newcastle, KwaZulu Natal caught Pirates’ eye after an impressive 22 appearances in Arrows’ defence last season.

“FARPost has learnt that the Buccaneers have made Abafana Bes’thende’s Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo is one of their top defensive targets this transfer window,” FARPost reported.

“According to a source, the Soweto giants and the KZN-based club are discussing but yet to come to any agreement,” the report added.

Should Hlatshwayo make the switch to Soweto, he will become the second central defender from Abafana Bes’thende to Pirates after the superb Nkosinathi “Bhodlela” Sibisi last season.
