OFFICIAL: Johnson is SACKED, good Nabi news coming soon for Chiefs fans?

Kaizer Chiefs will soon receive confirmation that they have a new manager in the shape of Nasreddine Nabi. They’ve just sacked Cavin Johnson.

Kaizer Chiefs sack Johnson

Johnson didn’t exactly cover himself in glory as the Chiefs boss, guiding them to 10th, their worst finish in DStv Premiership history. It’s now official that he and the club have parted ways without the former Head of the Academy returning to his old role.

Kaizer Chiefs have had to be patient

Nasreddine Nabi’s FAR Rabat side contest the Throne Cup Final on 1 July against Raja Casablanca. Raja, coached by former Pirates boss Josef Zinnbauer, pipped Nabi’s side to the Botola Pro 1 League crown by a single point. Nabi and his side will be desperate to atone for that and take some revenge in the cup final. All of this means that Nabi’s much-anticipated move to Kaizer Chiefs will be finalized soon. He could plausibly fly to South Africa this week to be officially unveiled.

Chiefs have work to do in the winter window

According to iDiskiTimes reporter Lorenz Kohler, Chiefs are dead-set on finding a new left-back, goalkeeper and striker.

“Sources have previously indicated a striker, left-back and goalkeeper remain among the priority targets for the club in the upcoming weeks, while several players who are out of contract, will have final decisions on extensions or being released in the coming days,” iDiski Times reported.

NABI SPEAKS OF THE KAIZER CHIEFS ‘VALUE’

Nasreddine Nabi will soon link up with his new club and assume the head coaching role at one of the continent’s biggest clubs. Austin Ditlhobololo from Goal has reported on why the Tunisian tactician chose Chiefs over other lucrative or appealing options. Amakhosi fans will certainly be impressed by these words.

“I chose the Kaizer Chiefs offer because it is an honour for me to supervise a team of Kaizer’s value. At the same time, as a Tunisian and an Arab, I have this responsibility and this opportunity, I can learn about a different culture, football and socially, which is a gain I always aspire to, without giving myself too much value.” Nabi told Ditlhobololo.
