The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a man and his girlfriend to lengthy jail terms for murder.

A biological father and his girlfriend have been handed lengthy jail terms for the murder of a five-year-old boy after the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court found that the child was starved and beaten to death.
On Monday, Godwish Moyo and his girlfriend, Lizwelihle Tshuma, were sentenced to an effective 20 years and 22 years respectively for their involvement in the murder and abuse of Moyo’s 5-year-old son, Jayden.
Handing down the sentence, Magistrate Nishani Beharie told the couple that they were supposed to protect and care for the young Jayden, but they chose to do the opposite.
