Western Cape police said a man, who had been taken in for questioning in connection with the murder of two people in Athlone on Friday, has been released.
The incident happened during running gun battles between rival gangsters, in which a man and a 16-year-old Belgravia High School pupil were killed.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the man was arrested just hours after the deadly shooting.
