The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission has expressed concerns over implications that there is “wholesale corruption and fraud” at the body.

It was responding to the announcement of a Special Investigating Unit (SIU) investigation into serious maladministration, corruption, fraud, and fruitless and wasteful expenditure at the commission.

On Wednesday, the SIU said President Cyril Ramaphosa had signed a proclamation authorising it to probe the procurement of, and contracting for, suitably qualified companies to partner and invest with the commission in the development and operation of the KwaZulu-Natal Studios.
