“I’m in so much pain, I don’t know if they can hear me banging for help. But I hear my dad’s voice calling me.”

These are the words of Delvin Safers, one of more than 40 construction workers trapped beneath the rubble of a five-storey construction site in George which collapsed on him and his colleagues, six of whom have died. 

The 29-year-old Safers, from Mossel Bay, was working as an electrician on the construction site in Victoria Street when it collapsed just after 14:00 on Monday.
