The National Assembly has passed the Public Procurement Bill.

The bill includes a national framework for preferential procurement in government departments and entities, enabling disadvantaged groups to receive an advantage for state contracts. Preferential procurement is enshrined in SA’s Constitution.

MPs voted in favour of the bill on Wednesday, which will now be sent to the National Council of Provinces before being signed in law by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
