In remote areas across Africa, where healthcare infrastructure is invariably limited, the use of mobile AI-based technology is helping to uplift and protect the lives of millions of women and girls by significantly improving the early detection of cervical cancer.

Elsewhere on the continent, AI-powered systems are helping African farmers boost crop yields and reinforce food security, while AI algorithms are also optimising power systems, making renewable energy more accessible and affordable to underserved communities and even helping to protect Africa’s precious wildlife and environment. In Gabon, for example, AI technology is used to track and protect endangered forest elephants with an 82% accuracy rate.
