GOOD councillor in Nelson Mandela Bay, Lawrence Troon, must pay damages of R130 000 to EFF regional chairperson Khanya Ngqisha for defamation, the Eastern Cape High Court in Gqeberha ruled on Monday.

Troon must pay R60 000 for the first two charges and R70 000 for the remaining two. He has 14 days to pay.

The lawsuit stems from Ngqisha’s claims Troon made defamatory remarks against him during an interview with a media publication earlier this year and dragged his name through the mud on social media.
