News24 | Limpopo pupil ‘takes own life’ after teacher allegedly told her she was the ugliest girl in class

A 16-year-old Limpopo pupil, Mamaila Makhubela, allegedly took her own life after claiming in a suicide note to her parents that she did so because a teacher had told her she was the ugliest girl in class. 

The family of the Grade 10 pupil, from Mashao Secondary School in Ga-Ntata village in Bolobedu, Limpopo, said they believed she had died of a drug overdose after having been bullied by a teacher at school. 

Mamaila’s 28-year-old sister, Thabelo Mbedzi, told News24 that she had been found dead in her bedroom early on Monday morning. They also found a container of painkillers and a suicide note.
