There was a strong rugby feel about the nominees for the prestigious SA Sports Awards announced earlier this week, with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi and former Bok coach Jacques Nienaber among them.

In a total of 22 categories, rugby contributes a star-studded list of nine candidates, including SA Rugby itself in the Sports Federation of the Year category.

Nienaber, who guided the Springboks to the 2023 Rugby World Cup trophy in France late last year, is named in the Coach of the Year category, while Kolisi is up for the Sports Star of the Year award.
