If the talk of upward progression in coaching can be summed up through the trajectories of two individuals, albeit coaching in different leagues, it’s Sam Vesty and Joey Mongalo.

Vesty, who took the Northampton Saints to the Champions Cup semi-finals and currently top of the Gallagher Premiership log this season, had a long and successful playing career with the Leicester Tigers and Bath before his retirement in 2013.
