After the collapse of the five-storey building in George, Western Cape, on Monday, there were scenes of both joy and despair.

While 37 construction workers have been pulled out of the rubble, the families of trapped colleagues are still waiting in agony for news of their loved ones.

From his bed in a George hospital on Wednesday, electrician Delvin Safers, 29, told News24 he was grateful to be alive, adding that he was desperate to see his son.
