Former Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber sent a quiet yet firm warning that Irish super province Leinster still had a score to settle with teams that he deemed dominant.

Nienaber, a senior coach at Leinster, under Leo Cullen, is back in South Africa for the first time since he left the Bok coaching post after the successful 2023 Rugby World Cup, where the Boks defended the title they won in Japan.

SA Rugby announced Nienaber’s departure from the Boks on 15 April last year, having rejoined the South African men’s national team from Munster, along with Rassie Erasmus, back in 2018.
