Frontier Hospital in Queenstown, Eastern Cape has come under fire after patients and staff bemoaned a lack of basic resources, including water, food, drugs and linen, and alleged that staff often asked patients to bring their own.

The Eastern Cape health department, however, dismissed the claims as “false allegations”.

One patient told News24 she was asked to bring her own water and food.

Irate staff also claimed that much of the equipment didn’t function properly and that morale was low.
