Despite voter patterns showing that some people in KwaZulu-Natal vote along tribal lines, ANC Youth League president Collen Malatji says he is confident that the party will emerge victorious after the upcoming polls.

Malatji has also conceded that deploying people who “slept on the job” may have cost the ANC some municipalities in the province.

“I believe that we are going to win KwaZulu-Natal. We have reinforced the KwaZulu-Natal leadership as the NEC ANC with veterans from that area. KwaZulu-Natal has a history, even post-1994, of people voting according to tribal lines sometimes, which is part of the challenge that we are faced with,” said Malatji.
