Little Champions Day Care Centre in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape is enhancing security measures and supervision protocols after a 3-year-old boy died in hospital a day after he was rescued from a pit toilet.

Little Unecebo Mboteni died in Frere Hospital’s intensive care unit on 19 April.

Initially the school didn’t comment on the incident, but in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Friday evening, it apologised.
