The KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg lambasted the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi for “failing” to facilitate six municipal by-elections.

It also slapped the MEC with a costs order.

However, the court granted the Sithole-Moloi’s main request: to postpone the by-elections to mid-June, after the national elections have taken place.
