KwaZulu-Natal police’s top brass issued a stern warning to officers to refrain from aligning themselves with politics or to be seen as active members of any political party.

The province’s police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, said officers should be apolitical and neutral “all the time”.

During a press briefing, Mkhwanazi also warned officers against campaigning for political parties.
