Skeleton crews from the City’s Fire and Rescue Service will remain on site overnight to monitor a raging veld fire in Kirstenbosch.

“Some gains have been made, courtesy of fire crews and more calm wind conditions,”  said Fire and Rescue spokesperson Jermaine Carelse.

Carelse said staff had also been released from Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens.
