Parts of Cape Town saw a surge in shootings over the weekend, with scores of bullets being fired in affected communities.

Even communities not known for gang violence have seen a spike in shooting, including Ottery and Grassy Park.

ShotSpotter, which has been implemented by the City, is a gunshot detection system that identifies the sound of gunfire, enabling law enforcement to pinpoint the origin of gunshots, particularly in areas prone to gang violence.
