It was confirmed on Monday night that former Springboks centre Juan de Jongh has decided to draw the curtain on his 14-year professional career.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Stormers revealed De Jongh’s retirement plans and thanked him for his loyal services to union/

“A DHL Stormers legend bows out. All the best in retirement Juan de Jongh and thanks for all you did for this team over the years,” read the statement.

CAREER RECAP: JUAN DE JONGH BOWS OUTS

Internationally, De Jongh turned out for the Springboks, Blitzboks, South Africa A and the Barbarians. The Springbok accumulated 19 Test match appearances for South Africa between 2009 and 2016.

In the abbreviated form of the game, he featured for the Blitzboks in 2008 and again between 2015 and 2017 and was part of the Springbok Sevens team that finished third and won bronze at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro under the tutelage of Neil Powell.

At provincial, franchise and club level, the 35-year-old Springbok represented Maties, Western Province, the Stormers and Wasps.
