Musa Mseleku claims he almost fell victim to bogus colleges

Uthando Nes’thembu star and polygamist Musa Mseleku reveals he was approached by unregistered institutions.

MUSA MSELEKU: ‘I FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED’

The TV host Musa Mseleku took to his Instagram on Wednesday, 24 April to share that he “turned down” bogus college offers.

This comes after Skeem Saam actors Sello Maake KaNcube and Elizabeth Serunye were awarded honorary doctorates from Trinity International Bible University at the weekend.

“I fully understand what happened and why he [Sello] accepted this. I have been approached before by these institutions, but I turned them down. But that is beside the point, the point is this is one of the great men who has been there. Why it took a bogus institution to recognise his work? Now people are crying out loud. This is an indictment on you people,” he says.

Mseleku tells TshisaLIVE that he does not want to disclose the names of the organisations, but reveals what made him skeptical of the offers he received two years ago.

“I could see it was more of capitalisation on your popularity as an individual plus marketing strategy for them,” he says.

“Most of these institutions that use religious beliefs to bestow themselves as professors and doctors you will find them all over churches. I refused because I am not too ambitious for those recognitions and secondly.”

He realised that at the time he had not worked enough to get the recognition. He believes that the value of one’s work should be justified by what one has contributed to society.

The reality TV star adds that he made a call to verify the institutions before he turned it down. He concludes that when they approached him, he called Dr Gugu Mazibuka, a lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. They both concluded that it was a no-no.

SELLO MAAKE KANCUBE FALLS VICTIM TO BOGUS COLLEGE

Sowetan reports that Minister of higher education Blade Nzimande reveals the intuition which conferred an honorary doctorate to actor Sello Maake KaNcube is not registered.

Nzimande adds that Trinity International Bible University has no authority to offer any qualifications. This comes after Maake KaNcube celebrated the honorary doctorate on social media.

“Look at God! It’s now Dr Sello Maake kaNcube. Someone please tell my co-pilot Pearl Mbewe Maake KaNcube @Solopearl [wife] that she is no longer travelling this life journey with a national treasure only, but with an honourable DR!,” he wrote on X.

The publication adds that Skeem Saam actress Elizabeth Serunye, singer Winnie Mashaba were also conferred in November 2019.
