MEGHAN MARKLE WILL ‘NOT RETURN’ TO UK WITH PRINCE HARRY

Prince Harry is set to return to the United Kingdom (UK) on Wednesday 8 May. The Duke of Sussex is returning to the UK for the Invictus Games Foundation’s 10 year anniversary. The event will take place at St Paul’s Cathedral. However, Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle will reportedly not be joining him on his trip to the UK.

A spokesperson for the couple confirmed that Meghan will not be joining Prince Harry at St Paul’s Cathedral for the event, according to Daily Mail. However, Meghan will reportedly join Prince Harry on a trip to Nigeria. This would be the first time the pair visits the country together. The trip to Nigeria will reportedly be immediately after the Duke’s trip to the UK.

Prince Harry and Meghan quit their duties as senior working members of the royal family in 2020 and moved to California, US. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are parents to Prince Archie (4) and Princess Lilibet (2). The family of four now lives in Montecito, California.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE EVENT

The Invictus Games Foundation was founded by Prince Harry in 2014 as a multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.

BBC reports that the Duke of Sussex will give a reading during the service. The Prince will reportedly be joined by actor Damien Lewis, who will recite a poem, according to the publication. The ceremony will mark “a decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport,” said a spokesperson for the Games.

This will mark the first time Prince Harry will be returning to the UK following his visit to see King Charles in February. This came after King Charles’ cancer diagnosis. King Charles has since returned to public duties on Tuesday 30 April, amid his cancer battle.

“His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis. To help mark this milestone, The King and Queen will make a joint visit to a cancer treatment centre next Tuesday, where they will meet medical specialists and patients. This visit will be the first in a number of external engagements His Majesty will undertake in the weeks ahead,” read the statement.
