MAJOR Kaizer Chiefs problem revealed by one of their players?

Kaizer Chiefs defender Dillan Solomons knows what’s been holding the club back this season in another underwhelming campaign.

Solomons isolates the biggest problem at Kaizer Chiefs

Chiefs are on the verge of a ninth consecutive campaign without silverware. That’s a big issue for all concerned with this massive footballing institution. Right-back Dillan Solomons spoke to the media before the club’s much-needed recent win against SuperSport. He believes there’s a mental block existing among the players, especially after they concede goals.

“I don’t know the answer to that question, but I think I can I can work out something for you,” Solomons responded to iDiski Times‘ question.

“I think mentally it’s been tough, trying to figure out how we go about things, how are we going to try and win games.

“I think for us it’s just when we concede, I think that’s been our mental block I think the conceding part has been the mental block where we concede and we can’t get back into games.

“I think that’s been something, because in the recent game, I think we created the most chances in the first half and once Richards Bay scored, we just couldn’t get anywhere close to the goal so I think that’s something we need to work on.

“I think it’s just mental strength. I think that’s where we lack.

“But I feel like also we need to create more chances for our strikers, me included. I think that’s putting in better crosses for our strikers to to get on to, and then our midfielders creating the chances for our strikers to score, so I think that’s something that we need to work on.”

WANDILE DUBA IS STAYING PUT

According to Soccer-Laduma sources, 19-year-old striker Wandile Duba will sign a new long-term deal with Kaizer Chiefs.

“The boy is not going anywhere as the technical team has recommended that he should stay. What they see in training has given them the sense that they can’t lose such a good young player and that’s why they have even extended his contract for another four years. His current contract was coming to an end in June 2025 but now it will run until June 2029. Everyone at the club is happy with him and his progress and that’s why it was not hard to agree with what the technical team recommended to management to keep him for longer,” said the source.

WHAT ARE DUBA’S LONG-TERM PROSPECTS?

In a word? Pretty good. Efmamjjasond Gonzalez won’t stick around beyond his current loan deal after failing to score his goal-scoring duck in 15 appearances. Meanwhile, Ashley Du Preez and Christian Saile have often been deployed in wide areas so Duba will certainly get a chance in the senior side through the middle. The teenager’s only goal for the club was a stunner against Golden Arrows. That was in March. He’s only made seven league appearances this term but he’ll certainly get more opportunities next time around.
