Limpopo man who won R13 million Powerball jackpot speaks

A security manager from Limpopo who became an instant millionaire from the R13 million Powerball draw discusses his winnings.

LIMPOPO SECURITY MANAGER CLAIMS R13 MILLION

IOL reports that a Limpopo man won R13 309 154.20 from the Powerball jackpot draw on 16 April.

The security manager who recently claimed his prize bought his winning ticket from Shoprite Checkers in Limpopo. He bought a R60 ticket wager and a manual selection method.

The National Lottery Ithuba says the winner visited the Ithuba Sandton office this week to claim his millions.

The Limpopo man says he only discovered his win a few days ago, when he was asked about the delay in claiming his money.

He adds that he typically plays ahead for multiple draws across all relevant National Lottery games. He casually checked his ticket while purchasing a Lotto ticket on Saturday.

While he’s always believed that he would win one day. He was incredibly astonished to learn that he had the winning ticket from the 16 April Powerball draw all along.

The man who works as a security manager also reveals his plans for his newfound fortune.

“I intend to share a portion of the money with my siblings, so they can savour their big brother’s windfall. More significantly, I yearn to surprise my uncle with a beautiful car.”

“Following my father’s unfortunate passing when we were young children, my uncle selflessly took on the responsibility of ensuring our well-being.”

“I used to trek long distances to and from school, until one day when my uncle gifted me a bicycle to ease my travels.”

“Now that I have won this money, I can finally express my gratitude like I’ve always wished, by purchasing him a beautiful car.”

ITHUBA CONGRATULATES WINNERS

Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza has congratulated the R13 million Powerball winner and R2.9 million Powerball plus winners.

It is reported two South Africans each won R2 901 985.00 from the Powerball plus jackpot on the same day.

The first winner traveled to the United States of America of visit his daughter and to meet his grandchild for the first time.

The second winner who is employed as a cleaner in Cape Town bought his ticket at his regular Post Office.

All winners over R50,000 receive free financial and trauma counselling. Players must be 18 years and older.
