Liberia: Christ Embassy Breaks Ground for Free Primary School to Serve Underprivileged Children

Paynesville — As part of its many humanitarian assistants to the world, the Christ Embassy Church through the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI) has broken grounds for the construction of the InnerCity Mission School.

Ceremonies marking the groundbreaking for the construction of the School were held Wednesday, March 20, at the school’s proposed campus located in Kankan Estate in the Baptist Seminary Community in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

Speaking at the occasion, Pastor Omoh Alabi, Director of the InnerCity Mission for Children (ICM) stated that the school will be the 14th within the InnerCity network and will be 100 percent free.

Like in other countries, she asserted that the initiative is intended to help the marginalized and disadvantaged children here in Liberia, and was born out of the ideology of the Church (Christ Embassy) vision bearer Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

Pastor Alabi sees the proposed InnerCity Mission School as a beacon of hope following the war, Ebola and covid-19, all of which left scars on the educational sector of the country.

“Due to the poor economic status of some parents, many children are not in school and this has undermined their own development,” she said. “And so, this is why we are here today to break ground for the construction of this ultra-modern primary school which is going to be the second in West Africa. We thank our daddy for visioning this project,” the ICM Director told the gathering amid cheers.

She disclosed that the educational program is one of the eight programs of Christ Embassy that are geared to breach the challenges several children are faced with.

In remarks, Pastor Ernest Omoleme, Zonal Pastor of Christ Embassy (East west central Africa zone5) expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the local church here and the foundation for seeing this as a need.

“This is a clear indication that God has a place for you in his vision that he has for everyone. You are sitting into a place of broad vision and you will be a mighty tree,” he said.

To achieve this great vision, Pastor Omoleme reminded the audience that everyone has a role to play to ensure that this vision is actualized with the hope of being replicated to other communities across the country.

At the same time, the Country Pastor of Christ Embassy Liberia, Alfred Mason expressed great excitement over the new development that aims to help disadvantaged kids.

He assured the Church and Liberians that the new project will make a greater impact beyond the widest imagination.

“Once the spirit of God is involved, it is going to go beyond our wildest imagination,” he added.

Meanwhile, the occasion was graced by top dignitaries including Montserrado County Senator Saah H. Joseph, Montserrado County Electoral District # 6 and #4 Representatives Rev. Samuel Enders and Michael Thomas respectively.

Sen. Joseph at the occasion pledged US$15,000 to the project, 10 truckloads of sand and five truckloads of crushed rocks and other assistance to the project.

Rep. Enders, for his part, pledged an initial contribution of L$100,000.
