Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye says he is excited to see Gaston Sirino playing in Amakhosi colours.
The 33-year-old attacker joined Chiefs last week on a two-year-deal having left Mamelodi Sundowns. Outspoken football pundit Khanye said Amakhosi made a good decision to sign the Uruguayan forward.
“Credit to them for getting Sirino,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“But they must also look at the surroundings because for Sirino to function well someone has to pass him the ball. You need to supply him. If he doesn’t do the supplying, he needs someone to do it, just like his partnership with Khama [Billiat].
“I’m very excited about Sirino joining Kaizer Chiefs. I think he is the best signing and I don’t even care about his age he can always get his confidence back. He is quality,” he said.
Khanye believed that Sirino was initially not part of Chiefs’ plans but the club signed due to pressure from fans. Since the striker left Sundowns, reports linked him with a move to Amakhosi.
“But think I the club signed him to shut the fans up. Yes, they did a great job but now sign five more players of Sirino’s quality and balance the age. Sign attackers that are more or less like that guy.”
The former Kaizer Chiefs winger said Chiefs needed a few new quality players to play alongside Sirino.
“They need to sign someone contracted, a quality player under 30 to complement Sirino. So, you need experienced quality players, this(Chiefs) is a big team,” he said.
