Irishman Felix Jones served the Springboks attack guru in recent years, making him a double World Cup winner as well; but he has now joined England’s coaching ranks, thus putting South Africa in the market for a new attack coach.

On Sunday, Afrikaans publication, Rapport, broke the news that Rassie Erasmus is looking to Brown to fill the vacancy.

And while nothing has been confirmed as of yet, it seems Erasmus has succeeded in his quest following new reports in New Zealand media that a deal had been brokered, signed and sealed for the Kiwi to join the world champions.

Brown had previously coached Japan at two World Cups, helping the Brave Blossoms secure a first-ever quarter-final place in 2019. He was also a key part of the Highlanders’ Super Rugby title win in 2015.

The former All Blacks flyhalf scored 171 points in 18 Test matches and is no stranger to South Africa, having played for the Sharks and Stormers in Super Rugby.
