Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed a wholesale changes as they look to turn their fortunes around ahead of next season.

These changes affecting both players as well as coaches at Chiefs with more expected to follow going forward.

Chiefs confirm player exits

One the playing side, five players have been released by Chiefs. These being Keagan Dolly, Sifiso Hlanti, Siyethemba Sithebe, Njabulo Ngcobo and Jasond Gonzales. Now with that being said, the first coaching departure has also been announced. That being goalkeeper consultant Rainer Dinkelacker.

Members of management and the technical team will be working tirelessly over the next few weeks to ensure that the team hits the ground running when the 2024/25 season begins at the start of August.

There are a few preliminary changes which have been implemented in alignment with the contracts that were agreed upon at the start of, or during, the season.

  • Coach Rainer Dinkelacker, who was recalled at the start of the season to assist in the goalkeeping department, has left as per agreement. We thank him and his family for allowing him to leave Germany and rejoin the team to share his knowledge with the coaches and our goalkeepers.” Wrote the club.

Dinkelacker the first coaching exit

This has been an open secret for a while now, as Itumeleng Khune posted a picture with a farewell message. In the picture he is handing over a signed Chiefs goalkeeper jersey to Dinkelacker who emerged as his mentor early. The veteran keeper mentor is an Amakhosi legend who first joined the club under Mushin Ertugral in 1999. He would eventually leave the club, however, after winning the 2012/13 title.

At the start of the season, Dinkelacker finally returned to Chiefs as a consultant to goalkeeper coach Aubrey Mathibe. It has now since been confirmed that he will be calling time on what could be his final Amakhosi stint. Could Khune follow suit?
