AmaZulu take action after Mobara red card against Pirates

AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin says the club have submitted an official complaint to the Premier Soccer League(PSL) following Abbubaker Mobara’s red card against Orlando Pirates.

Usuthu felt they were robbed and Mobara’s red card should be rescinded. The Buccaneers defeated AmaZulu 1-0 at Orlando Stadium on Saturday but Usuthu were left to play most of the match with 10 men. Match referee Cedric Muvhali sent Mobara off after he was adjudged to have fouled Bucs midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi.

AmaZulu coach Franco Martin believes Mobara’s red card gave Pirates a huge advantage in the match.

“Mobara is suspended because we we sent a report to PSL, because when you are receiving a red card for,” he told Gagasi FM.

“First of all, probably is not even a red card due to the situation, but especially is because it’s not even a foul.”

“And then when someone else is making a mistake, if you need to be punished for the mistake of somebody else, I think it’s something ridiculous.

AmaZulu looking to revoke Mobara’s red card received against Pirates

“We’re not talking even about being fair. It’s bout something that it’s crazy. So the report is there in PSL and we are waiting for two days to reply because we are expecting Mobara to be available for this game and for the upcoming games,” the AmaZulu coach added on the Pirates incident.

“Because not continue for three games one of our key player for something that he didn’t do and it’s already proven, I think could be something again bad for this football and for this competition.”

Having lost back-to-back matches against Pirates, AmaZulu plays Chipp United on Saturday and might be without Mobara. The KZN side lies 13th on the DStv log with six matches remaining this season.

Usuthu to appeal Mobara’s red card

Former FIFA referee Ace Ncobo explained how the referee made a mistake in giving AmaZulu’s Mobara a red card against Pirates.

“I do not buy the decision to give that red card was the correct decision,” he said.

“For starters, the striker takes the ball with the outside of his left foot, which for me takes the direction towards goal away – that’s the first point, Martin said as per iDiski Times.

“For me the defender would’ve had an opportunity to get to the ball. And the referee’s view here is obscured by no less than two players.”
