AKA’s bodyguard spotted out with US star after R62m fraud arrest

Celebrity bodyguard Anwar “Dogg” Khan – known for his close relationship with AKA or Kiernan Forbes –  has been spotted out and about with US R&B singer Joe Thomas. 

This, following his bail release just days after an arrest on charges of fraud and corruption. Khan’s protection company, Pentagon Group, is accused of pocketing R62 million belonging to the University of Fort Hare.

Khan was released on R200 000 bail with strict conditions set in place, reports IOL.

AKA’S BODYGUARD SPOTTED WITH JOE THOMAS

US R&B star Joe Thomas recently wrapped up his three-day tour in South Africa, performing in Pretoria’s SunBet Arena, North West’s Sun City Superbowl, and Cape Town’s GrandWest Casino.

Joining him was Anwar “Dogg” Khan, a bodyguard known for protecting high-profile performers in SA.

The bodyguard kept a watchful eye over the US entertainer, who has visited SA on several occasions.

Khan made headlines last year after he claimed to have had a close friendship with the late AKA. Speaking to eNCA’s Annika Larsen, Khan claims he was not on duty on the night the rapper was shot and killed in February 2023.

Last month, the Durban businessman courted controversy when he, along with 14 others, were arrested on charges of fraud and corruption charges.

Khan’s private security business, Pentagon Group, is accused of defrauding the University of Fort Hare out of R62 million for the provision of protection services to the university.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority, those arrested are “accused of having colluded in giving each other tender contracts at the university in return for gratifications”

Khan was released on R200 000 bail after claiming that his “business would suffer” without him.

The case has been postponed to 9 May for further investigation.

HOW MUCH DOES VIP BODYGUARD MAKE?

According to Sowetan, AKA’s bodyguard Anwar Khan has previously bragged about charging his VIP clients a minimum of R56,000 a day,

Khan has worked with the likes of stars, including Chris Brown, Ciara, Rick Ross, Lil Kim, and more.

Speaking on the LoadShed podcast in March, Khan claimed clients could hire his bulletproof car for R25 000 per day.

“The fact that you hired me means preservation of life.”

Anwar Khan added that his celebrity clientele were impressed with his thorough services.

He said: “When Chris Brown went back home, he tweeted that he was protected ‘secret service’ style”.

He added: “I respect time, and I respect people”.
