4 EC policemen arrested for murder

CAPE TOWN – Four Eastern Cape policemen have been arrested for murder after allegedly beating a man to death.

The officers, who are all members of Cradock’s Public Order Policing (POP) unit, allegedly hunted down the deceased after accusing him of having robbed one of them.

It’s understood they took him to the POP building where they assaulted him.

IPID spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping: “The officers will appear in the Cradock Magistrates Court on Friday, 19 January 2024, for a formal bail application, facing charges of murder, kidnapping, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.”
